Tod Lindberg is a research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, and the editor of its professional political journal. In the current issue of the journal,
Policy Review, he excerpts an essay on Christ's Beatitudes from his new book,
The Political Teachings of Jesus (HarperCollins). Both his essay and his book are noteworthy, not so much for what he argues in them--Lindberg is well within the broad ethical tradition of mainstream Christian ethical thought--but for the fact that he seriously argues for the relevance of Christ’s teaching to the political realm at all. This is not exactly standard fare at universities and think tanks these days.
