The Tragedy of the Kurds

The sad saga of the Kurdish people has been one of the enduring tragedies of human history. From the brutal days of antiquity when their Median Kingdom was subjugated and absorbed the Persians resulting in a vast imperial hegemony, to the brazen days after the First World War when the annulment of the Treaty of Sevres by Britain, France, and the Ottomans resulted in the creation a series of artificial states like Iraq, Syria, and Turkey with unnatural borders in order to serve yet another political and economic hegemony.

According to Axin Arbili in this disturbing article in the Conservative Voice the latest betrayal of the Kurds, this time at the hands of the United States and it War on Terror, may well be the most ignominious of all.

  1. US Foreign Policy is a mess, and has been a mess for the last half-century.

This is the second time in less than 20 years that we've betrayed the Kurds.

And people wonder why the rest of the world doesn't trust America?

  2. The more I read lately, the sicker I feel about our world, especially about our own government. Just yesterday, I listened to an interview with Phyllis Schafly that negatively impacted my view of our present government. Her strong words surprised me, for there aren't too many conservatives I know of who would dare to be critical of today's commander in chief.

In your opinion, what can ordinary people like me do to make a difference? Obviously, we carry out Micah 6:8 in practical ways in our own community, and we try to stay informed and participate in voting issues. But is there anything else? It just seems so inadequate, and it feels like our country and our world is disintegrating into chaos. Is there anyone in power left who is pure and undefiled? Is there anyone trustworthy and righteous?

  3. Support Ron Paul for President.

And, per Gary North's sound advice, "promote positive change at a local level while we wait for today's evil systems to break down."

    Peace, Prosperity, Freedom

I'm leaving Thursday morning to go up to NH with the Operation Live Free or Die folks.

We'll be doing what we can.

Tomorrow should be interesting when the caucus results come in.
