Man of Sorrows

Man of Sorrows! What a name

For the Son of God, who came

Ruined sinners to reclaim.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,

In my place condemned He stood;

Sealed my pardon with His blood.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Guilty, vile, and helpless we;

Spotless Lamb of God was He;

Full atonement! Can it be?

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Lifted up was He to die;
“It is finished!” was His cry;

Now in Heav’n exalted high.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

When He comes, our glorious King,

All His ransomed home to bring,

Then anew His song we’ll sing:

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

I am grateful for the warm comfort of my home and my bed, as I think of Christ who in life had no place to rest his head and in death hanged cold and naked, so that I might be saved.
Lord Jesus,
you have called us to watch with you
as you called your disciples to watch on this night; you have asked us to pray with you
that our Father's will may be done though it may not be our will;
help us, Lord, to let go of our own will;
and to seek our Father's will more fully;
help us to wait with you and watch with you
and to use times of waiting to watch and pray
and be present with you, hour by hour and day by day,
so that others may know your presence with us and be drawn to you;
Grant, Lord, that you may find us awake and watchful this night and always. Amen
