Not only is the Bavinck biography good reading for the mind and Christian-Worldview development, but the author, obviously well read and schooled, is not too stuffy to keep him from having quite humorous footnotes. And the book is spiritually moving and displays some of the best fruit of Dutch Calvinism, which is a rich field anyway.
