According to a BBC News story, the Archbishop of Canterbury has said that the adoption of certain aspects of Islamic Sharia law in the Britain is "unavoidable."
Rowan Williams, the titular head of the worldwide Anglican communion, asserted that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens "do not relate to the British legal system." Indeed, he argued that adopting parts of the Muslim law code would actually "help maintain social cohesion." According to Williams, the argument that "there's one law for everybody" is actually "a bit of a danger."
His comments come just a month after the Bishop of Rochester suggested that non-Muslims might soon "find it hard to live or work" in some areas of England.
With friends like these, who needs enemies?

I saw that article this morning, as well as the one I emailed you. While America has been Slouching Towards Gomorrah, I'm witnessing the world entire rushing into cunning (if you will). Cunning. Wisdom and Knowledge can combat it, but where are these traits in our country and cultural leaders? Where is Wisdom? I, personally, see rapid (mindblowingly rapid) landscape changes ahead in "the free world." All the more reason to exhort the Body for steadfastness in change AND to seek Wisdom in earnest and pray for those in authority. Cunning has them (us) in its sights...

The insanity of a church with no valid epistemology once again proves itself.
As the church loses its saltiness, it is increasingly painful to watch the circus (apologies for the scrambled metaphors). It still seems, though, that there is a degree of respect for the Archbishop as archbishop that we need to retain. I wish I knew what that would look like, though.
