May I humbly suggest as well, The River of Grace by Joyce McPherson, a YA biography of Calvin (published by Greenleaf Press)

Rob: Good plug! Amen. My list is by no means exhaustive--I don't even have The Institutes or the sermons or the commentaries listed!

No listing of Kuyper's Lectures on Calvinism? Or Henry Meeter's Basic Ideas of Calvinism? Or Henry Van Til's Calvinistic Concept of Culture? Or Douglas Kelly's The Emergence of Liberty?
Otherwise a really good list. I'm currently reading the Lawson book.

Ben: I've only got books here about Calvin--those are all great, essential books, but they're about Calvinism the system or Calvinism the culture rather than about Calvin the man.

George: I understood why you listed what you listed; however, I was operating on a life principle that states: No book list is ever complete. That principle has a related corollary: Every topic mentioned has a related, yet different topic or subtopic. Every related topic or subtopic leads to another book list. Add yet another principle: Every book list should ultimately overwhelm the interested reader. These are my guiding principles in life.

Amen and amen. Great guiding principles. By the way, I just listened to your "Spheres" lectures a second time. So encouraging--especially the one on Dooeyweerd, who I've never understood (at all). Thank you for your faithful labors and your voracious reading.
